Thank you for visiting lincolnapparel.com. I hope you love my Lincoln T-shirts as much as I love designing and making them! I put a lot of love, hard work, and effort into each design to make it the best it can possibly be. I love and admire Abraham Lincoln. To me he's the greatest leader that we've ever had. I treat him with respect, and I do my best to follow his ideals and treat other people the way he would want them to be treated.
Lincoln believed that if something was worth doing, it is worth doing well, and I believe that too. Thanks so much for your interest in Lincoln Apparel!

Shipping and Handling
Single-shirt orders within the USA are shipped via USPS First Class Mail. Multiple shirt orders within the USA are shipped via First Class or Priority, depending on which one is cheaper. All items ship within 2 business days upon receipt of payment. Delivery confirmation is added to all shipments within the USA. You will receive an email when the item ships. Once the item ships it can take anywhere from 1 to 4 business days for it to arrive (2-3 business days is common to most places within the USA). Items are shipped from Springfield, Illinois, so shipping time will depend on how far you are from here.
If you live in the local Springfield, Illinois area (or if you are visiting), local pickup or delivery is an option. If you should choose this option, any shipping charges will be refunded, and I'd be happy to arrange a method of payment other than PayPal so you are not charged shipping. If you would like to do this, please contact me for details.
International orders are shipped First Class, but without delivery confirmation. I cannot offer delivery confirmation on international orders due to the nature of First Class Mail.
The following table lists the shipping charges, which is based on the weight of the order (in pounds) and the destination country (in general, each shirt will add about 3/4 of a pound, and hoodies about 2 pounds):
For example, if your shipping destination is in the USA, your shipping and handling charge will typically be $3.50 for one T-shirt, $7 for two T-shirts in the same order, $10 for three T-shirts in one order (or one hoodie), and so on.
Please note that any customs fees, duties, and taxes are also the responsibility of the buyer. International orders may take longer, typically 2-3 weeks (due to external factors such as customs). If an order has not arrived within 2 months of purchase I will happily discuss it with you.
I include insurance on orders over $100. If you would like insurance on orders less than that amount, please contact me for a quote. Insurance can be expensive relative to the cost of the shirts on low amount orders (particularly international orders). I keep all postal receipts for proof of shipment in case something goes wrong. Please understand that once the item is in the hands of the postal carriers, things can happen that are no longer under my control.
I package all shirts in standard size poly mailers (for single shirts, or multiple shirts shipped First Class) or long, flat boxes (for hoodies or orders containing 2-3 or more shirts, shipped Priority) and I fold them up as nice as I can so that they (hopefully) don't get wrinkled. I reuse packaging whenever I can to keep shipping costs down and to reduce packaging waste.

Returns, Refunds and Exchanges
I take pride in my Lincoln T-shirts and I want you to be happy with them! However, if you are not satisfied with your shirt for any reason, or you would like to exchange it for another one, contact me within 30 days of receiving your order to let me know that you will be returning or exchanging it. Please understand that only items in like-new condition (basically, in the same condition as you received them) can be returned or exchanged, and that the buyer is responsible for return postage.
If you receive an item that is damaged in shipment I'll be happy to discuss it with you, but make sure you keep all the packaging and labeling for inspection purposes. I may also ask that you take photographs of the damaged item.

Do you wholesale your shirts? I'd like some for my shop/event/whatever...
I do offer wholesale, so don't hesitate to contact me about it. Make sure you tell me what you need, how much, and the name, number, address, and website (if any) of your business or organization, and I'll see what I can do for you. All designs have a minimum of at least 12 pieces, and on many designs the minimum is 36 pieces. Minimums and pricing vary depending on the design.
What about consignment?
I am willing to do consignment. Please contact me and tell me the name, address, number, and website (if any) of your shop, what the terms are, and what items you are interested in, and I will work with you from there. Please note that I require all of the details of the consignment to be in writing.
How big (or small) do your sizes run?
It varies depending on the specific design and the brand of T-shirt I choose to print it on. Unfortunately, the sizes are not completely standardized between manufacturers, so sometimes they run a little small or big. If a T-shirt tends to run a little small or big I will mention it in the item description. This table below will give you an overall general idea of the size of each T-shirt (width is as measured around the chest):
S - 34-36" (86-91 cm) wide, 27" (69 cm) tall
M - 38-40" (97-102 cm) wide, 29" (74 cm) tall
L - 42-44" (107-112 cm) wide, 30" (76 cm) tall
XL - 46-48" (117-122 cm) wide, 31" (79 cm) tall
2XL - 50-52" (127-132 cm) wide, 31.5" (80 cm) tall
3XL - 54-56" (137-142 cm) wide, 32" (81 cm) tall
4XL - 58-60" (147-152 cm) wide, 32.5" (83 cm) tall
S - 30-32" (76-81 cm) wide, 25" (64 cm) tall
M - 32-34" (81-86 cm) wide, 26" (66 cm) tall
L - 36-38" (91-97 cm) wide, 27" (69 cm) tall
XL - 40-42" (102-107 cm) wide, 28" (71 cm) tall
2XL - 44-46" (112-117 cm) wide, 29" (74 cm) tall
I would order the next size up if you think a T-shirt might be too small to fit you (or if you like your T-shirts a little big, like I do).
Do you offer kids' sizes or really big sizes?
Right now I only offer standard adult size (men's/unisex) T-shirts, and on some designs, women's sizes. The maximum size on most designs is 3XL (2XL for women), and a few go up to 4XL. I do not currently offer kids' sizes; however, I may offer them in the future.
Do your shirts shrink after you wash them?
They should not if you follow the recommended washing instructions (see next question). Lincoln Apparel also uses high quality, 100% cotton, American made shirts, so even if you do dry them they should not shrink by much. However, if you're worried about it, order the next size up!
Do you have any recommended care or washing instructions?
I recommend the following care instructions to make your Lincoln T-shirt last a long time (and to prevent any shrinkage, fading, or cracking that may occur):
- Machine wash and rinse inside out, in cold water, in the gentle cycle, with mild detergent (all of these things will lengthen the life of the shirt, and keep it from fading - never use hot water since it fades colors). No bleach.
- Hang (or air) dry. This not only prevents shrinkage, it also will remove wrinkles. I use an indoor drying rack to dry my T-shirts. Low/no heat in the dryer is OK, but only if you must use the dryer. (Exception: shirts containing metallic foil should not be placed in the dryer - hang dry those.) Never use high heat as this will shorten the life of the shirt, and may cause the design to crack and the shirt to shrink!
- Do not iron or dry clean.
Following these instructions will keep your Lincoln T-shirt looking great for many years.
How are your shirts made?
Each one of my designs starts with a specific Lincoln idea or concept that I think of. Sometimes the idea for a design is "sparked" by something; other times, the idea comes out of a thought process that happens over time. Sometimes it's a combination of both. I think about how I want to portray Lincoln and what kind of message I want to convey with him. I then go to work hand-creating the conceptualized design. I like to spend a lot of time on details, and making sure the design is perfected. I carefully choose all pictures, colors, quotes, and backdrops that will go into the design. I also do any historical research and photography necessary to create the design. I am a Lincoln admirer too, and I know quite a bit about him. Each design may take as many as 50 to 100 hours or more to complete!
Lincoln Apparel is an open-source shop. I use free, open source software programs such as GIMP and Inkscape running under the Linux operating system to create my designs.
Once a design is finished, I choose which color(s) and style(s) of shirts I would like to print my design on. I only use sweatshop free, American made blanks for all of my shirts. I then have my designs screen printed. I use only printers based in Illinois to print my designs. I like screen printing since it is durable, allows for detail, and feels professional. On large designs (anything covering the front of the shirt), a technique called "discharge printing" (which effectively bleaches the shirt underneath the print area, rather than printing a white underbase) is employed to enhance durability and give the design a softer feel.
This means that when you wear Lincoln Apparel you are wearing a high quality, well-thought-out, one-of-a-kind design created by somebody who loves, admires, and who is knowledgeable about, Abraham Lincoln. I even live in Mr. Lincoln's home town - Springfield, Illinois - so all of my designs are made in the same city where Lincoln walked. I hope you enjoy my Lincoln creations!
