Show your support for Abraham Lincoln by wearing this unique T-shirt, which features an original design resembling a Lincoln campaign poster from 1860. If campaign T-shirts were around for Lincoln's 1860 presidential campaign, this is what one may have looked like. I can imagine throngs of Lincoln supporters wearing it!

Based on a popular engraving of Lincoln's famous Cooper Union portrait, taken in New York City in 1860 and widely used during Lincoln's 1860 campaign, this T-shirt features a lot of the slogans and symbolism used during his campaign. (Engravings were used instead of photographs in print during this time, since halftoning - the process by which a photo is printed using miniscule dots of differing sizes - had not been invented yet.) The "Wide Awakes" were localized grassroots groups of young Lincoln supporters in 1860, thus the name of the T-shirt, and the reason why "Wide Awake Club" is written along the top. Common slogans and nicknames used during Lincoln's 1860 campaign like "Honest Old Abe" and the "Railsplitter of the West" are printed alongside the lower half of the oval-shaped portrait of Lincoln. Imagery related to Lincoln's "Railsplitter" moniker - used often during the campaign - forms the remainder of the area outside the lower half of the portrait of Lincoln.

Above the portrait of Lincoln, there are 33 stars - one for each state in the Union in 1860. Completing the design is the text "ABRAHAM LINCOLN for President 1860", written in bold 1860s-style fonts at the bottom of the design, below the portrait of Lincoln. Both the Lincoln portrait and the various design elements have been carefully and artistically separated into patriotic red and blue colors.

The entire design is screen printed onto a very soft, cream colored, 100% cotton, made-in-the-USA American Apparel T-shirt, so it looks and feels old. Both men's and women's versions of this T-shirt are available. Lincoln hated slavery, so this T-shirt is made using sweatshop free labor.

Men's XL size T-shirt shown. T-shirt shown is a sample, you will receive one that has never been worn. These T-shirts tend to run a little small, particularly the women's T-shirts; if you are concerned about this, order one size up.

Washing instructions: Machine wash and rinse inside out, in cold water, in the gentle cycle, with mild detergent. No bleach. Hang dry (recommended) or low/no heat in the dryer if necessary.
